Depends on the quality of the CD drive and the CD disk. Put
a lousy disk in a good drive and you'll get lousy
performance. Put a good disk in a lousy drive and you'll
still get lousy performance. Put a good (i.e. clean, no
scratches) disk in a good drive and  you'll get BEAUTIFUL
performance. Also, some older drives can't handle the newer
CDR/CDRW disks because of the color of the dye layer. This
is due to the color of the laser.

Yep. Think about how many RPMs that disk is going..... :-)
Also, the more unbalanced the CDRom disk is, the more noise
it's going to make.
