This happened to me as well: But the damaged tape was not the REASON for
the failure of ftape; instead, right the opposite was true:
Something has CAUSED the tape to be cut. So your
tape is presumably damaged again this time - check it out! I myself lost
my last tape by just inserting it into ditto max; then the
initialization of the tape drive began and wasn't able to stop, because
a rewinding wasn't able to be performed any more, as the tape was
cut again before. I don't know why it got torn up, reasons could be:
- hardware failure of ditto max
- firmware failure of ditto max
- BIOS failure with regard to the parallel port
- failure of the parport layer
- failure of the ftape module stack.
I won't investigate into this matter, because I do not have any ditto
cartridge any more and I am not willing to buy one more single ditto
cartridge. And by occasion of moving from one part to another part in
Germany I put ditto to the garbage...Actually it was trash right from the
beginning...
Sorry for not having a better idea - I just told you about my own
experiences...
Bye, Juergen.
