Yes, depending on your backup program, you can do that.
This is no function of ftape, just like spreading a file over
several floppy disks is no function of the floppy disk driver.
However that has the usual drawbacks (one bad tape could kill
your whole backup, for example) and you'd probably want better
(and much more expensive) hardware if you have backups larger
than the several gigs you can place on your Ditto Max.
Newer dumps should be able to do that, but test it first
(as always). afio should be able as well, tar probably too
(and many more I don't know about) and most any professional
packages as well.
