Sorry to bother you, probably someone asked about it before, but there is no search on sf.net, so I don't know...

Does anyone know how to setup root partition on usb-storage device.

There is a patch mentioned on linux-usb.sourceforge.net:
http://www.lammerts.org/software/kernelpatches/usb-storage-root.patch

but it seems to work only on 2.4.14-17, and than the patches are rejected because root device inits went from super.c to do_mounts.c.

In meantime some api changed a bit, so direct transformation of that patch into 2.6 code (paste the code into similiar function in do_mounts) seems not to work.

Is anyone working on it? On 2.4.14 there was enough to delay the kernel a bit before mounting root, but not on the 2.6:(
