This patch works on 2.4.23 fine (right now:)), but not on 2.6 anymore. I
just putted that code into 2.6.0-test11, but I'm afraid that goto retry;
is not what it has to be - it still does not catch this disk as a root,
but disk is detected by the kernel.

Would you move the "retry:" label one line up, to just above
get_fs_names(fs_names);
Also please post your kernel boot log so that I can see what is
happening.
