You might try using a > different cable to see if it changes anything. To me Nathan already answered: the problem occurs between 2.4.21-pre5 and pre6 AND is MB specific . A similar problem occur to me , as for the time being i tracked it to the ohci host irq managment code ... On my board (nforce2 controllers) it obviously led me to the flacky apic support and high irq sharing , problem being disabling apic does not let enough irq pin for usb to work :( I m stuck.
