Hi, Alan.

I'm not at home at the moment, but I can tell you that yes, the chipset
of my mainboard is a VIA chipset KT133 (not KT133A -- mine is older). I
don't know if the USB controller is also managed by the chipset or not,
but the chipset surely is made by VIA.

This sounds just right, since my old notebook has an Intel BX 400
chipset (or was that a ZX 400?) and I don't know if you remember my
earlier description, but the USB drive worked quite well with the
notebook (plugging & unplugging).

It seems like your diagnostics might be hitting the nail on the head
again (as usual).

Ok. I'll try it when I get home and tell you the details.

BTW, not that it matters for me (since I know nothing about the details
of USB and have never programmed for low level devices), but wouldn't
the system making large requests make the internal port choke (according
to your first paragraph)? You are trying to see when it fails?

(I have not read the code -- I wouldn't understand it anyway). :-)

Anyway, I will (probably) get back to you later today when I get home.

Thank you very much, Rogério.
