The scanner driver has been removed from the kernel as it is reimplemented in userspace.
You need to install libusb, SANE-backends, along with some kind of SANE gui (e.g. xsane) and use the scanner that way.
I'm not sure on the exact setup process here, search the archives as I'm sure there was a related discussion recently.
