I did see the discussion and Matt's suggestion of leaving the
max_sectors to 64, but I made the test anyway with 128 and it worked. I
wasn't able to see any noticeable speed improvement, but as I said
earlier the FAT partition on my USB/IDE hard drive seems to be a little
messy.

Just wanted to let you guys know that it works (at least for me - and at
least with this one device :-)) with 128. As usual, I'm available to
test any change, for instance if you decide to make an unusual_dev and
move the changes there.
