Hello,

The other day, when I went to check the ink levels on my Epson Photo
Stylus 870 with gimp-print's escputil, my computer locked hard. After
that failed, I tried printing a simple, short text file with CUPs and
the system locked up hard again. I switched the printer connection from
USB to printer cable (lp0) and everything works fine.

I have other USB devices and they're working fine, so I don't think it's
USB in general, but maybe it's the USB printer module locking things up?
I was using the 2.4.5 kernel, but tried 2.4.6-pre8 and the same problem
exists. I'm using the standard UHCI module.

Anybody else see this problem? Any suggestions on how I can debug/fix
this problem? I'd really rather go back to using the USB connection (as
my wife's printer needs the other cable =).

Thanks,
pete
