Okay, so the input layer is all cool and stuff. Good 'nough. Now, when I
was using the usb backport on 2.2.18, plugging in a usb mouse worked
instantly as it got converted and dumped into the psaux device, as I
understand it, anyway. I don't remember if the input layer was around
then, but now I'm seeing that the usb mouse device gets created in the
input layer and can be accessed via mouse0, etc. or through mice. As I've
read, all of the mouse* devices get dumped into mice. This is the same
behavior I saw on 2.2.18. However, the ps/2 mouse still goes through
psaux, and only psaux. So, setting up XFree, for example, to use
/dev/psaux works and setting it to use /dev/input/mice (and mouse0) works,
but it's only one or the other. Anyway the question although it isn't
absolutely your field of maintainence is, are these thoughts correct and
is someone already working on getting the ps/2 port to go through the
input layer? I think it should go that way, and not the input layer
getting merged with psaux. Thoughts? Flames?

Thanks,
        Jeff
