Then it *is* Primax scanner :-) Microtek probably just manufactures the Primax-designed device, or just sells it under its brand name. Microtek doesn't have to develop everything that they sell. > so should i try to use primax drivers , or add > the vendor-id,prodid in scanner.h ? > i haven't yet found drivers for primax scanner , > there are some parallel port drivers but not usb > drivers. Add vendor/product IDs to the scanner module and see what happens. If this device is like most other scanners then it should work. > as to camera, well i got some luck in that > i could get it to work with a non v4l driver, > but thats not much help bcause no v4l appl. like > xawtv, kwintv etc can use it. > and as to the v4l driver > i managed to compile and load successfully the v4l > driver for quickcam ex. from sf.net. > it also claims the camera correctly and recognises > the sensor chip etc. > but when ever i run any v4l appl, like xawtv or > kwintv etc..linuix hangs. and it actully HANGS, > cant even work with Alt+SysRq key combinations, > as a result i have crashed linux for abt 7 times > now, i am am afraid i might damage the hard disk > or something. You have to bug authors of the driver about that. Sorry, can't help here. The camera driver obviously needs some work... Dmitri -- To err is human, to forgive divine.
