Hi, I am still trying to get a production system working to copy Compactflashes using 'dd'. The first time I got this problem is half a year ago, on a system running an older Redhat version. Now, I use RH7.2 and still have a system that is seriously limping.
Sometimes it works fine: I insert the CF into the reader, use 'dd' to dump the image on /dev/sda, unload the sd_mod module and restart this cycle. Frequently, the system deadlocks (the virtual console I use at that time). I can still switch VC's however. When I look at the 'ps ax' I issue at another console, I see a modprobe that is hanging. I get even modprobes that die with a crashdump on the console. The only thing left is to reboot the system. Some messages I get on the console ... usb-uhci.c interrupt, status 3, frame #166 hub.c: cannot enable port 2 of hub, 1 disabling port. hub.c: maybe the usb cable is bad? usb-storage.c: host_reset() requested but not implemented. usb-uhci.c interrupt, status 2, frame #... Any advice ? Can someone try the same thing? Thanks.
