They lied (or were badly informed - you might want to get back to them). Their 
box fails to handle a legal request (GET_REPORT). So there is a patch that 
will appear in a new kernel (2.4.19?) - see below. If you haven't configured, 
built and installed a kernel before, you should read the Kernel HOWTO on the 
Linux Documentation project (http://www.linuxdoc.org).
