Hello everyone, I am using a Diamond SupraExpress USB modem with a lucent
chipset which works great with linux. That is, until I went out and bought
a snazzy new USB mouse. Now the mouse works, but I cannot make the modem
work. Please help me! Here is what I know:

1. I am using Mandrake Linux 8.2 with kernel 2.4.18. I have not made any
changes to the kernel that is installed by the distribution.
2. To make my modem work with KPPP, I symbolic link /dev/usb/acm/0 to
/dev/modem
3. If I "echo atdtXXX > /dev/usb/acm/0" the modem will dial XXX.
4. acm/0 is the only device listed under the /dev/usb tree. There is a
/dev/usb/hid (I assume this is for the mouse?) directory, but it is empty.
5. KPPP reports that it cannot dial because the device is "busy." I have
tried deleting the lockfile and recreating the symbolic link and still it
does not dial. It seems that /dev/usb/acm/0 is shared by both the modem and
the mouse.

What do I need to do here?

Tom
