There was nothing connected. But after removing the hub:

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0409:0058 NEC Systems USB2.0 Hub Controller

I could create a filesystem and access the drive!

So it looks like the hub is not supported.I checked this:
http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/search_res.php?pattern=0409
and found nothing about this hub.
