I guess your right this is what hp said when I asked them

Your printer is compatible with USB 1.1 as well as USB 2.0.  There will 
not be any difference in the speed using the above versions of USB.  

It will not change the printer functionality or speed.  The speed of 
printing varies on a number of other factors such as available resources
on the system and the type of document to be printed (only text or 
graphics).
