Then there are about a dozen posts of mine that you haven't seen... :)
Well, they weren't really comments about the code, just about 2.6.0.

Well I know nothing about the code (although I hope to attend to that
in the next year or so) but from the point of view of a user of USB
devices, I think 2.6.0 is a big improvement already. There are a few
things still to fix - this is recognized in the kernel development
threads - but I haven't crashed 2.6.0-test5 yet and I can find out
what the device is called once it's connected. With 2.4.x it was toss
a coin whether it crashed for me when I hotplugged and/or mounted a
device on my desktop machine (AMD Duron 1300, VIA chipset) and often
I had to resort to subterfuge to find the device so I could mount it.
I'm not keen on the naming methods I see in 2.6.0, what was /dev/hdb2
in 2.4.x became /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/part2 in 2.6.0... :(

I haven't yet plucked up the courage to try a USB2.0 PCI card in my
desktop machine. It reliably crashed 2.4.anything on that box.

Quite a few people people seem to want USB interfaces to UPS. That
seems a little odd to me, given what the 'U' stands for. But then
the old UPS I use in our office has a 42V 50AH capacity battery. :)
Am I missing out on something interesting with this UPS technology?

My Fuji FinePix camera, SanDisk CF card reader and 250MB Zip drive
work well with 2.6.0-test5 but sometimes I have to disconnect and
reconnect the USB cable if I unmount a CF card and then try to
remount it. Haven't enough experience of it yet to say roughly what
of precentage failures I get, nor if there's some common factor that
I could point to. So far that's been the only problem.

Ged.
