Hi,

I've now searched up and down the internet but I can't find info on
this.

Here's the problem:

I have two wireless usb mice. Both work fine on an SiS all-in
(usb-ohci). None of them works on a VIA all-in (usb-uhci) and a Sony
Vaio with mixed chips by ALi which has VIA usb chips (usb-uhci).

On the internet I found out that one particular mouse (Medion MD 40596,
5fe/11/101) is known to work with the last two SuSE distros and the last
two Mandrake distros. I'm currently using Mandrake 9.2 with a 2.4.23
kernel and I tested the mouse with the November 2003 version of KNOPPIX
which showed the exact same problem, ie mouse not working, no data can
be read from /dev/input/mice. Not only is it not working, it completely
jams the usb system so that, when unplugged, no other usb device will
work.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. Google tells me that one of the
mice definitely works with recent 2.4 kernels and indeed it does on my
SiS machine. But no go on the VIA machine.

One more thing. A regular usb-mouse with cable works on all my machines.
Only the wireless won't work.

What more can I test?

Mark
