Hello,

I succeeded to reproduce the same error with the following server
configuration:

IBM x335 8676-21X, single Xeon 3.06GHz, 1GB RAM, 2 x 36GB SCSI HDD
Fedora Core 1 with latest kernel update 2.4.22-1.2197.nptlsmp (SMP)
Sony Tape Drive AITe90-UL (with USB cable)

After I reproduced it, I have compiled the kernel with debug option
enabled for USB. But I didn't completed to install the kernel with
debug symbols, since I was not familiar with the kernel and the boot
loader, GRUB. Does anyone show me the pointer to how to install
the debug kernel as working under GRUB? I think I placed the vmlinuz
correctly, but failed for symbol table and initrd files, etc.

Regards,
Takashi Yoshida
