Ok the solution to this was so weird I simply had to share it...
What I omitted to mention was the computer is a laptop. Alan talking
about the cable reminded me of a time another USB device mysteriously
killed the entire computer. Toshiba tech support made me remove the
battery, hit the on switch thrice to drain all power, & run it without
the battery, on the cable.
Well I did the same thing now, & the printer works perfectly. Turns out
there was nothing wrong with any of the parts at all. But thanks for all
the help, I appreciate it.
