Well, when I last pinged HPA I got no response, so I used one
of the unused sub ranges in the 180:0-255 range which we _were_
assigned. The assignment/reassignment procedure was unclear, if
it wasn't run by HPA, so I just did what other folk seemed to be
doing (grab an unused subrange).

The dc2xx driver stopped using miscdev some time back, and when it did
there was a comment that it needed to be replaced with assigned maj/min.
