Yes, 10:171 is already allocated.
dc2xx driver uses 180:80-95.
I'll request 180:32-47 for mdc800.
Note that USB minors only come in groups of 16;
you don't have to actually USE/support all of them, though.
You should also (only) be using usb_register().
misc_register() is not needed (and not used in
dc2xx).
