I am a relatively sophisticated user, not a developer.  I think
that having some hardware configuration status info printed out
during boot and when devices are plugged in and removed is 
helpful.  At the very least, it informs users that the system
is operating correctly.  Perhaps in the glory days of future
Linux USB nirvana, this kind of information will be unnecessary
because everything will just work.  In the meantime, it is nice
to be reassured when things are working right and to have a
pointer to problems when things are going wrong.
