Hello everyone.
In England, British Telecom will soon be rolling out ADSL for home users.
The home option only supports a USB ASDL modem (the ethernet option is
only for business users and costs a lot more).
I spoke to one of BT's support staff to find out if they had done any trials
with Linux or if they had heard anything about support for Linux.
As expected they had no information since they only supported MS Windows.
I was told that the modem is an Alcatel SpeedTouch ADSL USB modem.
I have looked at their web site (www.alcatel.com) and found no information
regarding Linux.
The web site did however indicate that the Windows software is using
PPP over ATM. This makes me think that a driver is unlikely to exist
(although the 2.3.x series do have ATM and USB configuration options).
Does anyone know if this device will work under Linux?
