This is probably some kind of monitor control. Have you ever used this
device on Windows before and had any program that could change the monitor
settings? I've seen this before with a Philips controller.

That's really strange. Could you send me / the list the output of cat
/proc/bus/usb/devices as a seperate file to see what those characters
really are? I should probably change usbview to not display non ASCII
characters for now, until we get Unicode into the kernel :)
