Consult http://www.linux-usb.org/ to learn how to install Linux USB
support. You need to either install a 2.3.x development/beta kernel
(unstable) or install a USB backport to a 2.2.x kernel. I suggest you
look at the latter.
There are several Linux How-to documents that will help with dial-up
and there are many places to locate How-to documents. One such place is
http://howto.tucows.com/howto.html . The PPP-HOWTO ought to be a good
place to start.
