Hi,

Begin with the USB Guide (follow the link from
www.linux-usb.org).  That should get your USB modem
configured IFF it uses the ACM model for USB
communications devices.  If the modem is not
recognized by the acm driver, please post
the contents of /proc/bus/usb/devices back to this
mailing list.

To see /proc/bus/usb/devices, you must:
  mount -t usbdevfs usb /proc/bus/usb
first.

I can't help you with the dial-in part of your question.
