Yes indeed mine, and probably Alain's also, is a B model. I have opened up the cover
on
mine and there is one major chip in there a Shuttle Technologies USBAT-02. Yours
reports
itself as Product "HP USB CD-Writer Plus" while mine reports itself as HP Mesa
(Probably
short for HP MESsed up Again) One wonders if this Shuttle chip is customer or even
field
programmable or if it is a special mask made by shuttle for HP. You at least can get
your model
recognized, mine gets bogged down with errors requiring Bus and Host resets.
