I don't think that you're the sort of user that we're worried about.

What I'm really worried about is a newbie coming in with a brand new
machine still under warranty and us trying to plug in a NIC and
squashing some pins on the PCI connector or zapping the motherboard with
ESD and the machine mysteriously never works again.

No unless I *know* that the user is a fully informed and unwarrantied
user then I reckon we don't open up any machine.
