I agree with Andrew Tarr's comments. A replacement for X is not
realistic.

To 1) (browser) I never noticed these lockups with KDE 2.2.2, and I
don't notice incorrect form submission now with 3.0.1 either.

To 2) (prompting for filesystem scan) For servers it's a non-issue,
anyone running a server in a colo facility knows how to shut up the
interactive scan. Come to think of it, fsck hasn't stopped for years for
me after unclean shutdown (power failure, or reset button) on ext2, and
never ever on reiserfs. I don't know what he's going on about.

To 3) (printing config) Sorry I can't follow. It was years since I last
edited printcap. Yast2 does this just fine, so does Red Hat's
printwhateveritscalled. I never needed to type su either. Perhaps he was
testing a 1996 version of Red Hat.

To 5) (cleaner redraws) I disagree with wanting to pop up windows all
drawn, esp on a slow machine. While the window is drawn I at least get
feedback that my mouse click was registered, otherwise it's easy to end
up with 3 windows instead of 1.

His points 6) and 7) are valid. Sound support is easy as, yast2 will do
it fine. X is very easy to configure with sax2, sorry, and resolutions
can be changed with ctrl-alt-+/-.

That doesn't leave much of his 10 points...
