I will have special half A4 sized flyers with some info. about the installfest as well as my details on them, though these are geared for the install assistants to give to their installees (sp/word?) on the day. I am printing some with the name/detail spaces blank so that other Install Assistants may use them if they wish.
I attach the text of those flyers below for review purposes: ================== !! Welcome !! To the first CLUG (Canterbury Linux Users Group) http://christchurch.lug.net.nz/ **Installfest** Saturday 20 July 2002 Just by being here you are expressing your interest in Linux and the Open Source Software (OSS) movement. We welcome you to a diverse Community of users that ranges from Newbies to Sys-Admins and Software Coders. My name is Jason Greenwood and I or one of our other Members may be helping you install Linux today. We are all volunteers and are eager to assist you in any way we can with your Linux experience. As such, feel free to contact me/us anytime for further assistance or to help you install Linux in the unfortunate event that we could not get to you today. We hope you enjoy the computing power and freedom that is Linux and OSS!! Please enjoy your day with us. Jason Greenwood Phone: 03-338-3805 Cell: 021-184-3160 Email:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================= I was also going to offer, either through CLUG or on my own, little talks/seminars/tutorial nights about specific GUI based Open Source apps etc., etc. geared specifically for super newbies (ie the ones who call a directory a folder and don't know what the term command line means, and yes, there are many of those). I hadn't spoken to Chris or any of the others about it yet as I thought it prudent to get the installfest out of the way first. I have been to a few CLUG meetings supposedly aimed at newbies and whew, after 5 minutes a lot of the info. went straight over my head. Not that I am a Linux genius by any means but I thought I was just slightly above newbie level. As such, I thought these talks would help bring Linux down to a level that many super users never even WANT it brought down to.
