Hi all, I've never heard of this before, but a customer mentioned it to me:
Country Modems - a special kind of modem for poor quality rural phone lines. I'm taking this with a pinch of salt, but somebody told this person that she can buy a special modem for around $200 that provides a better connection for rural lines. As I was talking to the customer, I heard a constant buzz on the line and a clicking noise, that the customer said was from the electric fence. My guess is that someone was trying to sell this lady an external modem, which I suppose it better than an internal modem, but still no magic bullet for crap telecom lines. So, has anyone on this list heard of "country modems"? Yuri
