Hi Yuri There is some truth to the statement. Dynalink make a rural modem. Which has better speed negitation, and it does work well.
My parents had a USR courier 56k (Dam good modem) out on the farm and it was dropping off the net a lot, so got rural modem on trail and it works much better. It still drop connections but no where near as much. I have sold a couple to other farmers who are very pleased with it. There is also a aussie out fit that makes "rural modems " as well.. not sure of the name tho. Dynalink have a new rural modem II - http://www.dynalink.co.nz/products/u90e-rural.htm Not cheap tho.. there are plenty of shops who still have the old one in stock.
