I think most people are willing to help newbies, but get annoyed when someone just *expects* them to do it for them, isn't interested in learning, and is just asking because it's the easiest way to solve their problem, and saves them any work themselves. If someone demonstrates they are interested in learning, and have already tried their best to solve their problem on their own, then I think most people are fairly helpful towards them. Wouldn't you say?
