I would second that, from what I have heard of your problems Ian, Memtest86 is definitely next on the list of things to do. Fortunately it's free, very very easy to install, and very very thorough. If you have access to a CD writer, grab the ISO image, burn it on a CD-R and simply reboot a suspect machine off the CD.
