postfix log and/or how to make sure that an email has been sent

Hi,

Where is postfixes log located?How can I find out for sure that he SMTP server 
has sent the email, other than logs if postfix dosnt have one. I ahve tried 
using the locate command and also google. I am running mandrake 9.0.
