There's more dialup than you might think.  Even still, bandwidth is a
commodity and a finite resource.  Why waste the bits?

I wouldn't even notice it.  HTML mail is dumped into a text file for my
text-based mail reader to handle.

I'm not against progress, and I don't think any of us are.  But I'm not
a big fan of big flashy neon lights in my email.  I'd rather have the
speedy pace of text.  I read my mail over a secure shell connection to
North America.  I don't want to wait for images and pointless markup
when all I really care about is content.

I'm sure that wouldn't happen.  We may be opinionated, but we're
generally friendly. :)
