Well I recently bought a Fuji camera for the rest of the family to use. It has an XD card and its own cradle which connects to my Linux box without any problems.
At the same time Paula's sister bought a Samsung camera with similar specs and an SD card which seemed half the speed of the Fuji camera with XD card. Thats the only reason I need to use my camera > and its cradle - none of the readers I have found will support xD (SD yes, > but not xD) No, but it's plug-n-go under Linux. xD is a proprietory rippoff from Fuji/Olympus. xD is also too dog slow to be any use (27s to save a 2.5MB photo - jeepes), so make sure before you buy a camera that it doesn't have xD only. If you have already goofed (or decided for other reasons that it's ok to be ripped off) you can be the Linux guinea pig to test out the several available xD-capable card readers and let us all know for the record. :) Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is possibly list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me.
