my nikon does compact flash

the camera works through gphoto2
the cf card works in the cf slot of my usb attached hp printer
the cf card also works in a cf/pcmcia adaptor ($17 DSE - not an advert)
in the laptop.

each method has its conveniences.

however gphoto2 also allows me to set up the camera and take photos by
remote control - even from the other side of the world - like a 3
megapixel webcam :-)

no doubt there are other controls I can set too from gphoto2, so if you
are into that then having the camera working properly under linux can
have advantages. eg my son and i want to make some stop action
animations. the ideal setup will be the cam, a tripod, a cable to the
laptop and some little script to take pics and upload them to the lappie,
followed by running the program to turn it into an avi. childish perhaps,
but these computers and cameras are just toys anyway aren't they?
