the mobo header is the point where the cable to the drives plugs into the mobo. If you have a spare drive with a boot partition on it, then you can plug it into the appropriate header and see if the system boots from the drive. You said earlier that it was booting from a cd, so that would indicate that the mobo is ok, however I would still test the stat headers with another drive. If the system boots, then it is an indication it could be a software software issue. however it doesn't rule out things like a flaky northbridge etc. swap things around and see
