That may be true in most of NZ, and it's probably related to the physical infrastructure monopolies. But down here in Dunedin I'm connected to WIC via wireless; flat-rate 1Mbps for $75/month. I don't get things so fast, but I don't have to keep track of how much data I'm using. So it can be done, all you need is an ISP run by someone who cares about what the Internet really is ... -jim
