Tried to install gnucash last night, guile went in ok, gwrap failed on make. Also from what I read, you need most generally have gnome on your machine. Is this true?

Yes, gnome is required, version 1.4, gnome 2 will not work. Work is starting on a gnome 2 port within gnucash, but it isn't very far along. I don't even think it'll compile, yet. A separate project (kuickmoney) has been started to create a KDE3 front-end to the gnucash engine, but it's a one-man operation so far.
What version of gnucash are you trying to compile? What platform? What is the error output of the attempt to compile g-wrap?
