Hi,
Here arcade meant Arcade- yes I know I should have used a capital to indicate
the proper noun (short for Golden Shopping Arcade). Sorry for that.
The meaning of the slang term "rip off" generally means "to take advantage
of someone" (for example, if you sell a car with a body in very good
condition but in poor mechanical shape, at a high price, to someone who knows
little about motor cars, it would be said that you ripped them off.)
In this context, it means copying or counterfeiting goods, so here it means I
hope that the box is an official SuSE distribution, and not an illegal copy.
I agree, one can usually find pirated software, and here in the UK there are
a number of prosecutions going on right now- but people will still buy
because of the prices.
Yes, I know/knew HK quite well - I lived and worked there for some 6 years
altogether, and loved my time there- the "Wanch" was usually a fun place, but
we tended to stay around Kowloon on our nights out, (and occasionally out to
the "Better 'Ole" at Fan Ling, or the Jockey Club at Bees River.......)
Cheers,
Terence
