Coming into this a little late, since I've been on vacation. I use
reiserfs for all my partitions on several distros (/ and /boot in my case)
with no problems. The only problem that I am aware of is using grub (I
still use Lilo). You must create the files in the /boot partition with
the partition mounted thus: mount /dev/hdx -o notail /mnt/hdx, or grub
may not be able to use the partition. This causes reiserfs not to do
certain packing at the tail of the files which confuses grub. If you have
this problem, copy /boot/* to some other partition, wipe out the files,
mount the partition with -o notail, then copy the files back.

Always works for me, YMMV.
