If this is true (don't know, GRUB is the first thing to go bye-bye on my
installations), then GRUB is majorly broken (gee, what a surprise).  You
could always submit a bug report to the GRUB folks, but don't expect
much.

Caldera complained that the LILO folks were unresponsive.  While the
GRUB folks may be responsive, their responses have been unacceptable to
me, so I won't use GRUB or contact them again.
