you must be right. the rpm install of kernel 2.4.3 might have physically 
deleted the earlier one and i missed it.

it's the modules-info-> stuff that's interesting me because it smacks of a 
COAS way of doing things re installing modules. It's short on driver 
specific's and long on English syntax. Looks like some means of aliasing 
"scsi_adapter" to a specific card.
