I'm in the middle of trying to move all my email over to linux and have had
some success and also lack thereof in getting kmail to recognize and decode
attachments.

I've gotten some standard jpegs from this guy before and kmail managed to
import and decode them just fine.
I'm guessing that the pjpeg type is for progressive JPEGs so I found in
Preferences/File Browsing a File Association configuration program. I
proceeded there to add image/pjpeg by duplicating the image/jpeg settings.
However, neither restarting KMail or forwarding the offending email to myself
made any difference in the recognization and decoding of the attached files.
