Sorry I'm not on linux right now - my linux box is tied up with a gentoo_rc6
install.  In addition to cups you need to have the cups lpr-daemon (exact
name ???) running.  This daemon intercepts requests to lpr, lpd, etc. and
routes them to lpr-cups, lpr-lpd, etc.

I'll provide you the exact name later tonight when I can reboot my linux
box.  Do a google search for cups and the lpr-daemon.
