Some people seem to think that we people of good intentions should not over
react to the actions of a few extremists.
I would remind you that many years ago, when the first passenger jet plane
was hijacked, it was flown to the desert, I think Libya, and destroyed.
I will never forget how shocked the world was by this act of wanton
destruction.
We then became shocked by the killing of passengers on airplanes.
Now, we applaud and call them heroes when the passengers kill themselves to
prevent the terrorists from using the plane as a cruise missile. Yes, the
deaths of scores of innocent plane passengers is now regarded as the greater good.
This is called escalation. Next time, we may be shedding tears for a few
million, not just a few thousand, innocents.
Those who cry out for no restraints on personal freedom may find one day their
personal choices reduced to burning to death or jumping 80 stories.
